My name is Mason and I am a Montessori Teacher at Harbor Montessori Creekside in Port Orchard, WA. I have been a teacher in some capacity since 2022 and I have loved the impact Montessori has made in my life. I have had a string of jobs and experiences. I've been in the U.S. Navy on Aircraft Carriers wearing hot suits in the South China Sea. I have been a JuJitsu instructor for years in Gig Harbor. I sold insurance for Aflac and was a RBT for two years. Before living in Washington I lived in Mississippi and have had culture shock after culture shock when moving.
I think what I'm trying to say is that I have seen lots of places and have had a chance to immerse myself into many cultures. Not everyone has the opportunity to see different parts of the world or imagine the world outside of their immediate vision. I wish to change that and use the Montessori Method as my guide in creating a TTRPG Immersive System that will enhance everyone's learning, reinforce or make new connections, and aid everyone's growth towards a postive direction.
I have been playing TTRPG's (table top role playing games) since 2023. I am a relatively new player and GM but I have taken a deep dive into them. I have discovered the beauty of playing TTRPG's and immersing yourself into a learning environment.
In 2023 I had the opportunity to run my first game as game master. But what I loved more than anything was guiding the students in their world building. We looked at the Salish Sea and turned it into a fantasy land. We used ratios to draw a scaled map of the Salish Sea and the you could tell by the determined faces of each student that they were learning. Through two hours of dedicated focus they created a scaled map for their campaign. We learned about the culture of the area and what it would have been like if settled like European countries during the middle ages.
We discussed table rules, whats acceptable behavior and non-acceptable behavior, and how we should play to progress through the storyline. They helped in reminding each other of our guidelines and respected everyones wishes and ideas.
Then they created their characters, talked about the adventures they wanted, and collaborated with each other on the grand adventure they wanted to experience. Although they did not get a chance to finish their adventure, the next school year each returning student asked, "are we playing dnd?!"
